I have had mine for 20 years (back when the sheath was made of heavy canvas and leather). This blade has held up to some serious use over that time. One of my favorite choppers. I like that it can do some heavy chopping, but the edge can be sharpened keen enough for slicing. Certainly a big knife option for multiple tasks.

Great chopping blade. It can take some abuse too. The solid sheath is a plus. A little on the heavy side, but great companion in the back woods. Ontario made a solid product.

Backpacking and camping are all the better for bringing this. Too heavy for a long-term trek but great for a couple weeks or less.
One of my favorites and I strongly recommend

    Great chopper. Nice heft.

I own several machetes, closing in on a dozen now. I’ve been trying to find the right working machete for my farm. My Favorite is a viet-nam era machete made by Ontario. I bought this because of the reputation of Ontario. I like this but this is more of a chopping machete or zombie apocalypse type. This would serve well if the world came to an end but, is not the machete of my dreams. I use machetes daily on my tree farm and so far nothing compares to the ones I’ve used or held from the Philippines (the hand made rude and crude ones). The next one in my sights is the condor 12 village parang, whenever it’s in stock. Please remove me from the email alert in regards to the SP8 10″ survival rescue machete as I already bought this.
